PAVES Action@TATE MODERN 15.05.2010

I went to Tate Modern where they had a big event called No Soul for
Sale about alternative spaces from around the world. I printed loads
of paper headed 15th MAy 2010 PAVES Action with an email from Poshya
and one from Sinead that i received that same morning and other PAVES
info and writing. I put them on lots of stalls and people took them
and i had lots of PAVES chats-- totally energising

Sinead O'Donnell - PAVES - Crossing Zones - 15th of May 2010 - 'Ankle Rubbing'

Dear PAVES

I thought about all of you and felt you.
I did have

projected name of VLASTA in my head which visually was like
a banner.
It is so exciting to see what was you world after we finish the
phychic transmission of thought and action.
I just felt like rubbing my ankles together, some sort of feeling
occurs. I rubbed my ankles gentle together while sitting on my PAVES
sketch book. I held a good srong piece of lead pencil in each hand and
made PAVES
drawing. There was sence of body connection my gentle ankle feeling
and harder head connection.

One greeting from invisible girl for all PAVES I am here ..! but I don't knew why? …I wishful if I know it until I will to tell you.. but realy I don't knew..! it is only a question when I am thinkig of myself with my environment, ask it for myself.. every day some wordes oscillating around me.. And they have a life history with me and with this palce when I live in.. like as ( Blood.. Bloodthirsty .. Kidnapping..Bang..Desructive..Honor Killing...... Women problems , young problems, children problems , education problems.. Visa ..War..and World,,,,more..) all these words are outside of me and, always I have some another words inside myself like as ( Art,,PAVES,, Love.. Fancy.. performance art..peace..freedom.. change..travel.. disobedience.. study..actions ,, ,… ) Indeed my words are so different with the words of outside me and I am live in..! I was combined it and I worte them on one of laceration mirror by lipstick when every day I am looking myself through this mirror at 15 may until now …and I ask for myself: Where is me? Where are you? It was about my action to 15 may so sorry about my lateness because of my laptop was broken and my father was travled to another town with his laptop.. but my action is continuation every days until now ,, always I take photoes of it for you by myself because nobody don't helpe me for taking photoes .. Crossing Zones

A day of working together in time

For five hours on 15th May and 15th of August 2009 in each of our countries we simultaneously worked with the awareness of a shared conscious space.

Frontiers, borders, demarcations, boundaries, barriers, bureaucracy, officialdom, laws, regulations and rules all became irrelevant to the fact that we were making a collaborative piece.

PAVES has proved an incredible arena for the exploration of edges of being, edges of places, edges of identities, edges of definition.

After 12 months of working together we decided to use the concept of crossing zones as a place to connect, feel and be with each other.

We started this site in 2010 to further the ability to connect and communicate with each other and make this unique communication and collaboration accessible to others.

March 2009 - March 2010

Reflecting on how intense, wider political context inevitably sculpts
work, Anne Bean, who grew up in Zambia, has invited artists from
Ireland, Israel, Croatia and Kurdistan-Iraq to collaborate.

In the first instance, the artists spent a week in residence at
Toynbee Studios in March 2009 making, showing and seeing work
together. At the end of the week, they opened their studio to share
thoughts, work and experiences.

Then, on 15th May, the artists spent a day in each of their countries
working together in time to create Crossing Zones. For five hours,
they simultaneously worked with the awareness of a shared conscious
space. Frontiers, borders, demarcations, boundaries, barriers,
bureaucracy, officialdom, laws, regulations and rules all became
irrelevant to the fact that they were making a collaborative piece.

The second phase of the project took place in Zagreb andStaglinec,
Croatia from 15th to 21st June and the third phase took place in
Belfast and Cavan, Northern Ireland from 14th to 20th September. In
December 2009, the artists travelled to Tel Aviv and, whilst there,
visitedJordan to meet Poshya. The project will culminate in a
residency and performance commissioned by New Moves International for
the National Review of Live Art, Glasgow in March 2010.

PAVES is a year long collaboration between the artists supported by
the British Council's Creative Collaboration programme and Arts
Council England. The overall aim of the Creative Collaborations
programme is to enrich the cultural life of Europe and its surrounding
countries and to build trust and understanding across communities by
generating dialogue and debate.

Poshya has not been permitted to travel for the project so she has
been participating from her home in Erbil, Kurdistan-Iraq. On a recent
visit to Kurdistan, Anne collaborated with Poshya on They Are Talking
To Us and I am Thirsty which also included the other PAVES artists.
